“The image is the poets pigment. The image is not an idea; it is a radiant node or cluster. A vortex through which and from which and into which ideas are constantly rushing. It is as true for painting and sculpture as it is for poetry.” –Ezra Pound

When I write my poetry, usually each of the stanzas in a poem is a thought and when that thought ends, another stanza begins. For my line breaks, it’s a little different and more complicated. I haven’t exactly pin pointed a certain formula for how I break my lines in my poetry. I just sort of feel for what I think feels right. That’s all I can really say about it. I want to say something like “oh it definitely has to do with the breath and how long that takes” but I honestly don’t even pay attention to that. I just feel it out and do what seems right to me. There isn’t really any rhyme or reason to it or any definite formula that I know of, consciously.
